IBPS RRB 2026 Registration Begins for Over 13,000 Group A and B Officer and Office Assistant Posts

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has opened online registration for the Common Recruitment Process for Regional Rural Banks, CRP RRBs-XV, inviting applications for Group A Officer (Scale-I, II and III) and Group B Office Assistant (Multipurpose) posts across participating Regional Rural Banks in India. According to the official notification released on the IBPS website, this year's cycle covers an indicative 13,706 vacancies, making it one of the largest banking recruitment drives of 2026.

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for these posts should visit the official IBPS website, ibps.in, read the detailed notification carefully, and complete their application before the closing date. Since this is a fresh registration cycle and not a results announcement, candidates should not confuse it with any seat-allotment or counselling stage — allotment to a specific bank happens only after the entire selection process concludes.

What Has Been Announced

IBPS has published the short notification and detailed notification for CRP RRBs-XV, confirming that online registration is open from 1 September to 21 September 2026. The recruitment is meant to fill posts in participating Regional Rural Banks nationwide, covering four categories: Office Assistant (Multipurpose), Officer Scale-I (Probationary Officer), Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer/Specialist cadres such as IT, Law, Agriculture, Chartered Accountant, Marketing and Treasury Manager) and Officer Scale-III.

A candidate may apply for the Office Assistant post as well as for one Officer post, but only one of Officer Scale-I, II or III can be chosen. Separate applications and separate fee payments are required for each post applied for.

Who Should Apply — Eligibility at a Glance

  • Educational qualification: A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university is the base requirement for Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I. Officer Scale-II and Scale-III posts additionally require relevant work experience, and specialist Scale-II posts require specific professional qualifications.
  • Age limit: Age criteria vary by post and are specified in the detailed notification, with standard relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD and other reserved categories as per government norms.
  • Language proficiency: Candidates applying for Office Assistant posts must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking the local language of the state or Union Territory of the RRB they are applying to.

Candidates should verify the exact eligibility conditions, including qualifying marks and cut-off dates for age and qualification, from the official detailed notification before applying, since requirements differ across posts.

How to Apply — Step by Step

  1. Visit the official website, www.ibps.in.
  2. Go to the "CRP-RRB" section and click on the relevant "Online Application" link for CRP RRBs-XV.
  3. Complete new registration by entering basic details such as name, email ID and mobile number.
  4. Log in with the generated registration number and password to fill out the detailed application form, including educational, personal and category details.
  5. Upload scanned photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration in the specified format and size.
  6. Pay the applicable application fee online through debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.
  7. Review all entered details carefully, since several fields cannot be edited after final submission.
  8. Submit the form and save or print the confirmation page and e-receipt for future reference.

IBPS has advised candidates not to wait until the last date, as heavy traffic close to the deadline can cause technical delays.

Selection Process

  • Office Assistant (Multipurpose): Preliminary examination, followed by Main examination, followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) for those who don't already hold a matriculation-level local language certificate.
  • Officer Scale-I: Preliminary examination, Main examination, a common interview, and LPT.
  • Officer Scale-II and Scale-III: A single online examination, followed by an interview and LPT.

Both the preliminary and main examinations are objective type, conducted bilingually in English and Hindi, and carry negative marking for incorrect answers. Exact exam patterns, section-wise marks and duration are detailed in the official notification.

What Happens After Selection: Provisional Allotment

Unlike entrance-exam counselling for professional courses, IBPS RRB does not conduct a round-based "seat allotment" at the registration stage. Provisional allotment to a specific Regional Rural Bank happens only after a candidate clears all stages of the selection process — prelims, mains, interview (where applicable) and the LPT — and the final result and score card are declared. Since CRP RRBs-XV registration has just opened and exams are scheduled between November 2026 and early 2027, allotment for this cycle is expected only after final results are announced later in the recruitment calendar.

When allotment is eventually announced for a completed cycle, the general process typically involves:

  1. Logging in to the official IBPS website with your registration number/roll number and password.
  2. Navigating to the "Provisional Allotment" or "CRP RRB" result link once it is activated.
  3. Downloading the provisional allotment letter, which specifies the allotted RRB, post and other joining details.
  4. Reporting to the allotted bank within the timeline mentioned in the allotment letter.
  5. Completing document verification with originals and photocopies as specified by the bank.
  6. Fulfilling any medical fitness or other joining formalities set by the appointing RRB.

Because this stage is not yet applicable to the current registration, candidates should rely only on official communication from IBPS or the concerned RRB when it is actually announced, rather than any third-party date.

Documents Generally Required at Verification/Joining Stage

While the final checklist is issued by the allotting RRB, candidates are typically asked to carry:

  • Printout of the online application form and allotment/call letter
  • Valid original photo ID proof
  • Educational certificates and mark sheets (degree, provisional certificate)
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD), where applicable
  • Age proof (birth certificate or matriculation certificate)
  • Experience certificates, where required for Officer Scale-II/III
  • Recent passport-size photographs

Candidates must verify the final, updated document list from the official IBPS notification or the concerned RRB's communication, as requirements can vary by post and bank.

If You Don't Clear a Stage or Aren't Selected

Candidates who do not qualify at any stage of CRP RRBs-XV can:

  • Reapply in the next IBPS RRB recruitment cycle once eligibility criteria are met.
  • Explore other IBPS common recruitment processes, such as CRP for Public Sector Banks (PO/Clerk) or CRP for Specialist Officers, subject to eligibility.
  • Watch for state-level or RRB-specific recruitment notices for similar roles.
  • Use the score card, where issued, to identify areas for improvement before the next attempt.
